How You Can Help
Over time we will post initiatives we’re working on that you can get involved in. In the interim, you can take action in the following areas:
Increase Awareness
Local Civic Participation
Data Foundations
Increase Awareness
Speaking Engagements
What group needs to know about this work? What conferences, panels, or meetings could help push this work forward? If you have ideas about impactful speaking opportunities, let us know.
Co-Authoring
Are you doing research in this area? Are you currently writing an article or research paper? We are open to co-authoring opportunities as an avenue to broaden the impact of this work. If you’re interested in working with us, let us know.
Civic Participation
There is power in your local government. Local water management districts provide data center permits. City and County governments provide zoning approvals. That’s why we’ve partnered with Only in San Jose to provide free civic education resources to help you create change in your community.
Data Foundations
There is no public information about the exact impact of data center water usage on individual aquifers. Companies aren’t forthcoming and it is often difficult to obtain government information. But useful data does exist. If you have ideas on how we can access it, let us know.
While data is hard to come by, it does exist. We’d like to use it by hosting datathons focused on the critical questions around water availability. If you’re interested in assisting or want to be involved, sign up to learn more.
